Guinness World Records
How we make machine translation work for you
1. Start with a good base engine
Different MT providers have engines which are better for certain languages or specific objectives. You’ll need to select the one which is right for yours.
Asian Absolute helps you choose the most suitable. How do we do it? Through deep experience of the Machine Translation market. And complete impartiality regarding which engine will get you the best results.
2. Train the engine with the right data
You’ll require large volumes of high-quality bilingual data to train your engine. This data needs to be specific to both your field or industry and your language pair.
Our teams of linguist and engineer will clean your bilingual data. Fixing or removing any noisy data. The engineers take care of the technical side of natural language processing. The linguists are native speakers with machine learning skills so they will spot and fix or eliminate problematic data.
3. Translation and post-editing
Your project is translated by your trained engine. Asian Absolute’s post-editing team then gets to work.
Now. How well did your engine do? Using your agreed metrics we quantify the performance of the engine. How many words per hour were brought up to standard by the post-editors? What was the edit distance? How do these real-world metrics tally with the BLEU score? Or that of other automated metrics?
Now you know which of your engines is working the best, it’s time to improve it.
5. Train again
Of course, the post-edited translations may be used to train your engine further. But there is more which can be done:
You can also have our native linguists identify patterns and causes of problems. Those linguists and our engineers will then eliminate the root causes within your training data.
Now you can build a new engine with the improved data. Re-train an existing engine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is machine translation ready yet?
Machine Translation services can’t yet provide the same precision or fluency as a human native-speaker. But they have improved immeasurably over recent years. Particularly when used for texts like internal communications or repetitious, high-volume content.
To get the best results from MT, you should always:
- Choose the right type MT enginefrom a number of options on the market.
- Sourcelots of bilingual data. Clean then use It to train your chosen engine.
- Use proper metrics(not just automated ones) to assess its performance.
- Identifyhow to improve your engine by collecting feedback.
- Rebuildthe engine or train it again.
- Continuously improveyour results.
Your productivity gain will always be the most important metric. How much time do you save in post-editing? How much effort from your post-editors does it take to correct your engine’s output?
Asian Absolute presents you with critical information so you can do just that. Data on the words completed per hour of post-editing. On time spent. And edit distance. All so you can calculate – in actual monetary terms – the value each MT engine is creating for you.
What is machine translation post-editing?
Machine Translation post-editing uses an expert human linguist to bring the output of your chosen MT engine up to the standard you need.
The amount of effort it takes a human post-editor to turn your engine’s output into copy which is fit for purpose is called the edit distance. A larger edit distance usually means that the original output was of lower quality.
After post-editing, your output is ready for publishing. To be used as additional data to train your engine. Or for whatever other purposes you have in mind for your translated copy.
